Event: Brest Maritime Festival

The schooner *Europa* sails amidst a gathering of tall ships during the Brest Maritime Festival. Under the sun of the Iroise Sea, the voyage toward the port of Douarnenez—passing off the coast of Morgat—is a welcome one, as some sailors seek shade beneath the headsails.

The Brest International Maritime Festival is a week-long gathering of traditional boats from around the world, held in the French city of Brest—an event that used to take place every four years but now occurs every three. Concerts, night shows, a massive children’s village, a thousand artists, five stages, different musical acts every evening, and 7 kilometers of festive quaysides… When the maritime festival arrives in Brest, the sight of countless vessels from every corner of the globe creates an unforgettable visual spectacle. The music—with its global outlook—along with the port calls and performances, stirs the soul. Across five specially designed zones, you can explore a rich diversity of maritime traditions, cultures, and craftsmanship. You can step aboard the *Belem*, the ship that first carried the Olympic flame. You can fully immerse yourself in the closing night parade set to the live music of Yann Tiersen… Let’s face it: a single day simply won’t be enough to experience everything this maritime festival has to offer!
