Where to surf in the Canaries?
Fuerteventura
Fuerteventura is arguably the most well-rounded Canary Island for surfing. From barreling waves, beach and reef breaks, and sheltered backup spots to longboard waves and secret spots—there is something for everyone. The only thing to keep in mind is the season, as July and August can be extremely windy.
Lanzarote
Lanzarote is a vibrant island, featuring a mix of black volcanic rock, vineyards, and lush vegetation. While surf spots here are more limited than on Fuerteventura, they are also less crowded and of high quality.
Tenerife
Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands, featuring a south characterized by desert-like landscapes and urban development, and a wilder north with flourishing vegetation. This contrast is also reflected in the surf spots: the south has crowded breaks, while the north offers wilder spots where strong localism prevails.
